A newsletter for members and friends of UCT North America          Winter 2025

A note from UCTNA President Doug Honeyford

I would like to take this opportunity to wish each of you, and those you love, a most memorable Christmas filled with love and the wonderful memories you all hold of Christmases past. It is heartwarming to hear of our members helping food banks, toy drives, telethons, and meals for the needy - you are indeed “People Helping People.”

Take time to reflect on the blessings you have received and may your light shine bright in 2025. May you enjoy a year of good health, good friends, and good times, and may our world have less conflict and let there be Peace on Earth.

Fraternally,

Doug

UCTNA Board of Directors introduces new incentive program

Great news for UCT North America local councils. The UCT North America Board of Directors has authorized a new incentive program to monetarily benefit local councils similar to the former Medal of Honor Program. This new program is called UCT North America Star Council Program.

The Board encourages all councils to participate in this program. The program's goal is to help councils be active in their communities as well as earn award money to support local councils and their activities as they wish.

Each council will need to select a local member to be a coordinator of the Star Council Program, preferably the same member that coordinated your Medal of Honor Program.

The program runs annually from January 1 to December 31.

Please note: Participants in this program must have an account established with UCT North America Club Express. If your council does not have an account and wishes to participate in this program, please contact Glen Suever at gsuever@uctnorthamerica.org. Glen will help you set up your account.

Start planning today and become a STAR COUNCIL of UCT North America.

Councils in Action

A shout out to Columbus Council No. 1, where UCT started. Past International President Jerry Thomas presented a check for $1,600 to John Brandt representing Charity Newsies December 14, 2024. The council donated $400 and the members chipped in another $1,200. Charity Newsies of Columbus, Ohio provides clothing to children in need. Way to go Council 1!

Members of M.J. Terapak Council 144, Columbus, OH recently joined with employees of Emerson-Rogers to assemble over 600 Buddy Boxes at the Family Mentor Foundation. Many children who qualify for free lunch or reduced fee lunch at their schools have little to eat at home and return to school after weekends distracted by their hunger and unable to focus on learning. Family Mentor Foundation’s goal is to bridge the gap; to send these kids home with a Buddy Box every Friday during the school year to alleviate their hunger. Way to go team!

Members of Fraternal Council 380, Jackson, Ohio supported Shifting Gears for Christmas Cheers, a children’s Christmas program, with tote bags for organizing and gifting in Jackson. The Jackson County Gear Grinders will be helping families at Christmas time and throughout the year. Shifting Gears to spread Christmas Cheer are partnering with several local churches in Jackson, Wellston, and Oak Hill to supply the needs to families and individuals that need a little extra help at Christmas. Thank you Council 380 for your generous and thoughtful contributions.

Kudos to members of Racine, WI Council 337. Their team were able to deliver 14 blankets to Faith, Hope, Love recently. Thanks to everyone who helped make a blanket at last months meeting. Even though their group is getting smaller, they still try to do what they can! Their goal is to build Faith Hope & Love in the lives of children in crisis through the Duffels for Kids, Operation Christmas Cheer and Camp Hope programs across the state of Wisconsin, in an effort to reach as many children in crisis situations as possible. Thanks everyone for your great work.

We want to know what you're doing. To publicize your council events in an upcoming issue of UCTNA in Action, please email us pictures and a brief description of your volunteer events to David Knapp at dknapp@uctnorthamerica.org
